Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla) spotted Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) at Orphey Gene’s and expressed her appreciation for him taking on the photoshoot at the Tokyo Fashion Collective, which would allow Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) to attend. They also discussed the ChelseaKat designer and Dr. Madison Montgomery’s (Kenjah McNeil) wedding plans.

The conversation shifted to Andre Richardson’s history with Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob). The photographer admitted to struggling with his grief and declared that he didn’t want to lose his wife like he lost his parents. Izaiah Hawthorne (Lami Friebe) stopped by their table to say hello before heading out.

Naomi Hamilton-Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) woke her husband, Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges), with breakfast in bed. While kissing, Jacob Hawthorne pulled back for a moment as he heard gunshots from the night of Derek Baldwin’s (Ben Gavin) death echoing in his mind.

The cop felt guilty about being celebrated when Baldwin was the “true” hero. Hamilton-Hawthorne tried to encourage her husband, but he wouldn’t feel better until he caught the Impaler. Worried about how his wife was feeling and everything she had been dealing with, Jacob Hawthorne asked her directly if he had missed anything while he was gone, but she did not tell him the truth about carrying the BRCA gene that her mother and grandmother carry.

Randy Parker (Maurice P. Kerry) reported the details of his conversation with the Impaler’s right-hand man to Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom). Parker assured his boss that they were on the same page. He also noted the change in Armstrong’s demeanor and how his priorities had shifted.

Later, Izaiah Hawthorne made a pit stop at Lakeview Casino, where he wanted Armstrong to assure him that he hadn’t nearly gotten his brother killed. Armstrong insisted that he would never hurt a member of the Hawthorne family.

Meanwhile at the hospital, Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith Robinson) stopped to speak with Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson), who shared that she was having a difficult time processing Baldwin’s death. When Johnson revealed that Dr. Nicole Dupree (Daphnée Duplaix) had been helpful during her grieving, Dr. Richardson accidentally let it slip that he had asked his ex-wife to speak with her, which bothered Johnson.

Dr. Richardson explained that he had been reluctant to approach Johnson because of the circumstances and feared saying the wrong thing. Johnson understood and confided about her feelings, while the plastic surgeon shared his own experience with grief after losing his brother and sister-in-law.

Dr. Dupree later arrived at the hospital, where Johnson was initially a bit snappy with her, but the head nurse eventually apologized, and the two colleagues shared an understanding.

After talking with Johnson, Dr. Durpee met with Dr. Richardson and nearly confessed to fantasizing about him, but the moment was interrupted when Johnson arrived, who wanted to apologize to the plastic surgeon for being upset that he had asked his ex-wife to check on her.

Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) was startled when her mother, Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant), let herself into the apartment. Leslie Thomas complained that her daughter spent more time with everyone else than with her. The acting Phoenix Street Free Clinic manager assured her mother that she would always come first, and the two embraced.

Meanwhile, Izaiah Hawthorne sat down with his mother, Darlene Hawthorne (Monique Mosee), who wanted to organize a family dinner to celebrate Jacob Hawthorne’s recent accomplishment. The Banneker University counselor made it clear that he wouldn’t attend unless Eva Thomas was also invited, threatening to cut off his family if she was not.

Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings) joined Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) for a meal at the country club. When Bill Hamilton attempted to touch the area where she had concealed her bottle of poison, Lawson overreacted and quickly covered with an excuse.

Bill Hamilton admitted that Dani Dupree’s comments about Mike Davis’ (Pierce Lackey) inappropriate behavior had him questioning whether he had missed similar signs. Lawson reassured her husband before secretly adding poison to his drink while he stepped away.

At Uptown, Kat Richardson (Colby Natasha Nixon) listened to a true-crime podcast when Bradley “Smitty” Smith (Mike Manning) joined her. The ChelseaKat business manager revealed that she wanted to start a podcast of her own focused on Lynette Wise’s (Dominique Madison) disappearance and hoped Smith would be a guest. Smith warned his sister-in-law that investigations carried real consequences and were best left to trained professionals.

Hamilton-Hawthorne visited her mother for advice about Jacob Hawthorne’s dangerous job. While the lawyer wished her husband would stop doing undercover work, Dani Dupree encouraged her daughter to accept that Jacob Hawthorne being a police officer was part of his identity.

At the police station, Marcel Malone (Darryl W. Handy) teased the undercover cop about his recent recognition, but Jacob Hawthorne wasn’t in the mood to celebrate. Still struggling with Baldwin’s death and the Impaler remaining free, he questioned whether he had accomplished anything at all. Police Chief Elon Hawthorne (Malachi Malik) assured his son that he was proud of him.

Darlene and Izaiah Hawthorne later arrived at the police station, where tensions flared during the family gathering. The Hawthorne matriarch reluctantly apologized to Eva Thomas, while Hamilton-Hawthorne pointed out that her mother-in-law’s habit of correcting everything hadn’t changed.

Overwhelmed by the attention, Jacob Hawthorne decided to leave his commendation early and head to Uptown. Hamilton-Hawthorne offered to join him, but he told her to keep her plans with Morgan. The couple ultimately left separately.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Street Free Clinic investor crashed the gathering and immediately clashed with Darlene Hawthorne. After threatening to put her hands on the Hawthorne matriarch, Leslie Thomas was pulled aside by her daughter.

Not letting things go, Leslie Thomas later mocked the 9-1-1 dispatcher by bragging that Izaiah Hawthorne had cooked dinner for Eva Thomas’ birthday, then hugged him and called him son, leaving Darlene Hawthorne visibly bothered.

At Uptown, Kat Richardson noticed that Jacob Hawthorne was upset and offered him a celebratory drink in recognition of his commendation. The undercover cop agreed but clarified that he wasn’t in the mood to celebrate, prompting Kat Richardson to share a comforting hug with him.

Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) joked about sneaking away in their younger days. Just as things were heating up, their eldest daughter arrived and interrupted the moment.

After some playful banter about never having any privacy, the conversation shifted to the vacant chief of staff position at Garland Memorial Hospital. Nicole Dupree reiterated that she had no interest in the role despite Dr. Richardson’s opinion.

The Dupree matriarch and patriarch agreed that Dr. Monica McCormick (Iona Morris) would be an excellent choice, and Dr. Dupree shared their sentiment. Anita Dupree also questioned her firstborn about the tension she had noticed between the renowned psychiatrist and her ex-husband.

The Richardson-Smith household buzzed with activity as Samantha Richardson-Smith (Najah Jackson) filmed Platinum Deb content with Chelsea Hamilton and Kat Richardson, Tyrell Richardson-Smith (Jaden Lucas Miller) played chess with Jessica Harris (Camryn Jade) and Congressman Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) handled an important call. The commotion eventually became too much for Smith, who sent everyone out so he could focus on his article.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Dr. McCormick paid a visit to her niece. Johnson was grateful to see her aunt and asked if she would become the hospital’s new chief of staff. While honored that the Duprees had recommended her, McCormick admitted that she was concerned about balancing the position with her current patients.

Eva Thomas shared a meal with her father at the country club, and he pointed out that she seemed distracted at work. The acting free clinic manager admitted that Baldwin’s death had made it difficult to focus.

She explained that the clinic had run like a machine under Baldwin’s leadership and that she was struggling with the loss. Dr. Richardson compared her grief to the loss he felt after Doug McBride’s (Jason Graham) death, and the father-daughter duo bonded.

Martin Richardson later joined the plastic surgeon and questioned him about the lingering tension he’s been having with Nicole Dupree. After discussing Johnson, the congressman cautioned his father not to lose something with great potential while chasing something that might never be the same.

At Orphey Gene’s, Chelsea Hamilton and Kat Richardson encouraged Samantha Richardson-Smith not to pursue Donnell McBride (Alex Cheeks). The ChelseaKat junior ambassador admitted that the Belleclaires had gotten into her head at cotillion, making her question whether she was a real Dupree. The cousin duo quickly shut down those fears, then presented the Platinum Deb with an unreleased ChelseaKat bag, asking her to name it.

Later on, Hamilton-Hawthorne visited Smith to thank him for supporting Jacob Hawthorne during the undercover investigation. Shortly afterward, she received a call from the hospital regarding a missed appointment with Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald (Robert Christopher Riley). When Martin Richardson returned home, he told his husband how proud he was of him, and the two shared a warm embrace.

Elsewhere, Dr. Richardson invited Johnson to accompany him to Martin Richardson’s political fundraiser, while Anita Dupree pressed Nicole Dupree about which of her current suitors would be lucky enough to be her date to the event.

Andre Richardson returned home after a long photoshoot and immediately noticed his wife’s sorrowful mood. Dani Dupree explained that she had been thinking about her recent conversation with Bill Hamilton. She revealed that before her ex-husband married Lawson, she had begged him to come home, but he insisted that the paralegal would be his wife.

The supermodel reflected on how Lawson preyed on her maternal instincts and how she had even helped Lawson secure a job with her ex. She also recalled that Chelsea Hamilton had been there for her after she and Bill Hamilton discovered Lawson half-dressed in their bedroom.

Adding to the pain was the criminal defense attorney’s smug attitude once the affair was exposed. Andre Richardson listened as his wife shared her grief and he offered to run her a bath.

At the law firm, Bill Hamilton called his wife to let her know that he was tied up with work. After hanging up, he spoke with Caroline Lee (Ellie Wang) about his conversation with Dani Dupree regarding Davis.

Lee admitted that Davis had made a pass at her but knew exactly whom he could and could not approach. Bill Hamilton struggled to understand how he had missed the warning signs, and Lee suggested that his focus had been elsewhere—namely, Lawson.

Concurrently, Chelsea Hamilton and Hamilton-Hawthorne met for dinner and reflected on both the good and bad moments from their parents’ marriage. Hamilton-Hawthorne thought back to meeting Lawson after a gym class and realized she had unknowingly given Lawson the information she needed to work her way into the family. Chelsea Hamilton also reflected on how little remorse her father showed when the affair was discovered.

Elsewhere, Randy Parker met with Lawson at Uptown. The cousins reflected on how Armstrong had originally been their target before Parker convinced her that Bill Hamilton was the better option.

Parker was also the mastermind behind Lawson befriending Hamilton-Hawthorne and infiltrating the Hamilton family. Lawson laughed about how eager her ex-best friend had been to confide in her.

The paralegal also acknowledged that she had won Bill Hamilton over by appealing to his ego and letting him make the first move. While Lawson briefly expressed regret over how things ended with Hamilton-Hawthorne, Parker encouraged her to stay focused on the goal.

Later, Bill Hamilton found himself thinking back to Dani Dupree’s attempt at reconciliation before the infamous wedding. Lawson then arrived at the office and left with her husband.

Vernon Dupree called his old friend Victor Newman (Eric Braeden, Y&R) and wished him safe travels ahead of his upcoming trip to Fairmont Crest. Anita Dupree overheard the conversation and wanted to know what was going on. The retired senator revealed that Newman would be endorsing Martin Richardson and saw in the congressman the same qualities he had seen in Vernon Dupree.

Meanwhile, Martin Richardson’s campaign manager worked with the congressman to finalize the seating chart for the big fundraiser. Smith stopped by and shared some background on Newman’s long-running feud with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman, Y&R).

When Martin Richardson asked his husband to lend a hand, Smith explained that he was still on deadline. The congressman worried that his husband might miss the career-making or breaking night, but Smith declared that he would be there.

Elsewhere, Hamilton-Hawthorne and Jacob Hawthorne relaxed in bed together. Hamilton-Hawthorne mentioned that she planned to check on Morgan, who was struggling.

The undercover cop admitted that keeping it together had been difficult, prompting his wife to ask whether he was talking about Morgan or himself. Jacob Hawthorne confessed that he was still carrying guilt over Baldwin’s death.

Later, when Hamilton-Hawthorne arrived at her best friend’s apartment, Grayson Perez (Jordi Vilasuso) was on his way out. The attorney questioned whether Morgan truly wanted Perez out of her life and pointed out that both Baldwin and Perez had been dishonest in their own ways.

Jacob Hawthorne met with Smith but had little new information to share about the Impaler case. Determined to force the killer’s hand, the cop suggested that Smith use his story to provoke a reaction. He believed that the Impaler might reveal himself if the investigative reporter was willing to take the risk.

Martin Richardson later stopped by to visit his grandparents. Vernon Dupree proudly shared that he had secured Newman as the fundraiser’s keynote speaker.

Anita Dupree also revealed that her husband had confronted Armstrong. The couple expressed concern that the Lakeview Casino owner might eventually call in a favor if he was connected to the Impaler.

Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) stopped by the casino and overheard Parker and Armstrong discussing the planned meeting with the Impaler. Eager to be involved, the Fairmont Crest realtor offered her assistance, but Armstrong quickly shut down the idea.

After taking Vanessa McBride back to Armstrong’s place, Parker made it clear that he would be keeping a close eye on her and warned her not to get involved in the business. Parker then returned to Lakeview Casino to support Armstrong, and they welcomed in the Impaler, who clearly disturbed the mob boss.

Who will be the infamous Impaler? Viewers will have to keep watching to find out. Things will be heating up as the long-awaited “Beyond the Gates” and “The Young and the Restless” crossover premieres next week.

“Beyond the Gates” airs on CBS at 2 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
