While at Small Bar, Paulina Price-Carver (Jackée Harry) had flashbacks of her conversation with EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel), asking to use Dr. Wilhelm Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) miracle drug on Chanel Dupree-DiMera (Raven Bowens) as a treatment for her cancer. The mayor declared to herself that she was not going to take no for an answer.

Dupree-DiMera and Johnny DiMera were still trying to enjoy their “vacation at home,” but Johnny DiMera quickly noticed that his wife was stuck in her head about everything that was going on. As Dupree-DiMera felt the weight of the future on her shoulders, she opened up to her husband about her thoughts about life, her fears and her need and desire to live in the moment.

The Sweet Bits Bakery owner voiced her concerns about potential changes during and after her treatment. Johnny DiMera reassured her that she would be okay and that nothing would change the way he feels about her.

Just as they were embracing, Price-Carver arrived and demanded that her son-in-law got EJ DiMera on the phone. When Dupree-DiMera asked her mother why she would need Dr. Rolf’s miracle drug, Price-Carver proposed that it could be a cure for the Sweet Bits Bakery owner.

Dupree-DiMera asserted to her mother that she already had a prescribed treatment that she knew would bring no harm to her baby. She also stated that she never wants to be indebted to EJ DiMera again.

Price-Carver apologized to her daughter for going behind her back, and Dupree-DiMera understood that her mother was only trying to help. Dupree-DiMera reassured the mayor that her cancer is treatable and that they’re taking things day by day. Dupree-DiMera also asked her mother to trust the new doctor’s treatment recommendation.

Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) took a phone call from Kayla Brady-Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) about her cancelled appointment. Lexie Carver blew off the conversation and told Brady-Johnson that she would call the office tomorrow to reschedule her appointment.

In the Horton Town Square, Price-Carver ran into Abe Carver (James Reynolds) as she was leaving the Salem Inn. With flowers in hand, the former police commissioner wished Price-Carver a happy anniversary. Abe Carver and Price-Carver later reminisced about their wedding day.

Across town, Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) and Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) spent some time with Dupree-DiMera, discussing the food they had prepared for Juneteenth and assuring Dupree-DiMera that they would be there to support her no matter what. The Sweet Bits Bakery owner worried about her mother, given that it was her and Abe Carver’s wedding anniversary.

Price-Grant told her sister that everything would be okay and that she and Theo Carver could help take care of Price-Carver. Dupree-DiMera’s siblings told her that she should be worrying about herself in preparation for her cancer treatment.

Price-Grant later had a sweet one-on-one moment with Theo Carver and affirmed that he and Abe Carver would always be family, no matter whom Abe Carver chose to be with.

Later, Lexie Carver arrived at Dr. Rolf’s lab, and she seemed very weak and out of breath. The Carver matriarch demanded to know what Rolf’s course of action was to help her. Rolf assured her that she would be as good as new after a top-off of his miracle drug.

Meanwhile, Abe Carver apologized to Price-Carver for not keeping in touch since Lexie Carver’s return. The former police commissioner told Price-Carver that he loves her, and she begged him not to say that.

The Mayor confessed how crazy she had been feeling since things had become so confusing with Lexie Carver’s arrival. Price-Carver then went to Salem University Hospital to be there for her daughter’s appointment.

Dupree-DiMera shared a touching moment with Brady-Johnson, saying she is ready for the fight and hopes to see Trey DiMera and her unborn baby grow up. The Sweet Bits Bakery owner got clearance to go home for the day, and Price-Carver thanked Brady-Johnson for taking care of Dupree-DiMera.

Brady-Johnson could tell how much Price-Carver was struggling to cope with her heartbreak over Abe Carver, so the Salem University Hospital chief of staff suggested that she and the mayor go to the Juneteenth celebration together and hopefully catch up afterwards.

Abe Carver soon confessed that he did not want to go to the celebration because Price-Carver would be giving a speech there. Lexie Carver admitted that she still wanted to go and that the mayor’s attendance shouldn’t stop them.

Theo Carver and Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) met at the Brady Pub, and Chad DiMera showed his nephew a puzzle from Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) will reading that needed to be solved.

Price-Grant later arrived at the DiMera mansion and gave EJ DiMera a brief update on her sister’s cancer treatment before Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) and Price-Grant started catching up.

Lexie and Abe Carver arrived at the Horton Town Square for the Juneteenth festivities. When they ran into Eli Grant (Lamon Archey), Abe Carver introduced him to Lexie Carver.

Grant stated that he was actually on the way to the Carver apartment because he had official police business to handle with Lexie Carver. When discussing the infamous resurrection, Grant asked Lexie Carver if she had anything to say about Dr. Rolf, who was on the run from the authorities.

He then asked if the Carver matriarch had seen Rolf since she woke up. Grant assured Abe Carver that he was not trying to start any trouble, but he needed answers.

Abe Carver pulled his resurrected wife to the side and asked whether she had seen Rolf since she’d been back. She lied, claiming that he had been monitoring her remotely and that she hadn’t seen him.

Grant and Price-Grant shared a cute, brief moment together in the square, discussing their children. When Price-Carver arrived, she was visibly nervous about her speech at the celebration. Price-Carver, Abe Carver and Lexie Carver had an awkward interaction.

The mayor soon rushed off to deliver her speech, which she did beautifully to the crowd. During the celebration, Price-Grant grew suspicious of what was going on with Lexie Carver.

After the speech, Theo, Abe and Lexie Carver all congratulated Price-Carver and acknowledged the importance of the holiday. Throughout the conversation, the women Abe Carver loves exchanged some tense words and sparred back and forth, making things awkward for those around them.

Lexie and Abe Carver also discussed how the former police commissioner had given flowers to Price-Carver. The resurrected Carver matriarch stated that she was not upset about the anniversary gift, but that he should not give the mayor false hope.

Later that night, Grant and Price-Grant talked about the awkwardness at the celebration. As Price-Grant got ready to surprise her husband in lingerie, she realized he had fallen asleep. Grant woke back up as soon as she got into bed, and the married duo shared an intimate and steamy kiss together.
