Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) met with Daphne Rose-Walton (Murielle Hilaire) in the Forrester Creations CEO office to discuss their options for having a family. Walton appeared optimistic about whatever decision they made, even if they decided not to have children. Rose-Walton, on the other hand, was clearly feeling defeated.  

The Paris native told her husband that she knew he desperately wanted a family, and Walton reassured her that they would get through this difficult time as a team. Rose-Walton reminded the Forrester Creations COO what her recently discovered low fertility condition meant for their future.

Walton persisted with his positive outlook and recalled the options that Dr. Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) provided for the possibility of carrying a biological child of their own if that is what they ultimately desired. The perfumer quickly retorted, “The odds are very low!”

Rose-Walton blamed herself for not being able to provide her husband the family he’s always wanted, and he firmly stated: “You’re what I want…not having a child doesn’t change any of that.” As Walton attempted to hug his wife, she pulled away in frustration.

Devastated, Rose-Walton revealed that she didn’t feel as if she fit into his life and was heartbroken over her diagnosis to the point that she would never be able to move past it. A confused Walton pleaded with his wife not to push him away, but she continued to do just that.

The perfumer then revealed that she would be returning to Paris, France, to be with her family. Her husband was shocked and blindsided by this news.

Walton, visibly upset, tracked down Rose-Walton as she walked past the Forrester Creations CEO office. The distressed couple continued discussing their future and her plan to return to Paris, France.

The perfumer stunned her husband by telling him, “Coming to Los Angeles and falling in love was a mistake.”  Determined to get through to his wife, Walton urged her to stop blaming herself for the diagnosis and said that he would join her in Paris so they could focus on each other.

Rose-Walton refused support from the Forrester Creations COO and said she needed time away from him to be with her family. Before she walked out of the world-renowned fashion company, Rose-Walton returned her wedding ring to her heartbroken husband.

Distraught, Walton turned to alcohol. Later on, he stumbled back into the Forrester Creations CEO office and found Steffy Forrester-Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), also intoxicated and shattered after a blow-up with her husband, John Finnegan (Tanner Novlan).

As Forrester-Finnegan explained why she had returned early from her Monaco business trip, she informed her long-time colleague that her marriage was over. Walton walked over to the fashion icon and provided a comforting touch on the shoulder.
