Dr. Nicole Dupree (Daphnée Duplaix) and Kat Richardson (Colby Nixon) discussed how Bradley “Smitty” Smith’s (Mike Manning) arrest had affected their family. The ChelseaKat manager tried to keep Samantha Richardson-Smith (Najah Jackson) busy with work while Tyrell Richardson-Smith (Jaden Lucas Miller) returned to campus at Banneker University. Although Dr. Dupree tried to be positive about the outcome of Smith’s legal troubles, Kat Richardson wasn’t very optimistic.

At the Fairmont Crest Country Club, Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) encountered Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis). The plastic surgeon asked why no one reached out to him about Congressman Martin Richardson’s (Brandon Claybon) press conference. The Dupree matriarch and patriarch said their grandson had everything handled. They were then taken aback by Dr. Richardson’s engagement announcement, but congratulated him nonetheless.

Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) told Izaiah Hawthorne (Lami) that Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) was suppressing her feelings about Dr. Richardson’s engagement. The Phoenix Street Free Clinic manager accused Kat Richardson of subconsciously breaking the news to Leslie Thomas, hoping she would sabotage the wedding.

Meanwhile, Kat Richardson confessed that she used to hope her parents would get back together once upon a time, but she was now happy for her father and Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson). The ChelseaKat CEO then asked how her mother felt.

Dr. Dupree said she was surprised by the news, but respects and admires Johnson and believes the relationship is good for Dr. Richardson. Kat Richardson said she suspected Johnson might ask her to be a bridesmaid in the wedding, and the psychiatrist encouraged her daughter to say yes if that was the case.

Later, Dr. Richardson and Izaiah Hawthorne discussed Kat Richardson and Eva Thomas’ meeting with Nurse Johnson. While the plastic surgeon thought his daughters’ animosity had waned, Izaiah Hawthorne told him it hadn’t. The Banneker University advisor encouraged Dr. Richardson to check in.

At Orphey Gene’s, Johnson apologized to Kat Richardson and Eva Thomas for ambushing them. She assured them she wasn’t trying to solve their issues, and instead asked them to put their differences aside temporarily to help plan the wedding.

Moments later, Dr. Richardson joined his fiancé and his daughters at the diner. Kat Richardson and Eva Thomas informed their father that they’d declared a truce long enough to get through the wedding.

Anita Dupree dropped in on her eldest daughter and asked how she felt about Ted Richardson remarrying. Nicole Dupree told her mother she was happy for her ex-husband and happy in her relationship with Dr. Kial Rollins (Greg Vaughan). The EGOT winner then said Dr. Richardson might be looking for homes in Fairmont Crest.

Dr. Dupree said seeing them in the neighborhood would be no different than seeing them at work every day. Noticing the psychiatrist wasn’t telling the full truth about her feelings, Anita Dupree asked what she’d do if she couldn’t get past her feelings for Dr. Richardson.

Defensively, Nicole Dupree told her mother she wasn’t hiding her feelings, but she admitted she was initially sad to hear the news. Dr. Dupree made it clear that her emotions didn’t mean she missed her ex-husband or wanted him back.

Dr. Dupree told Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) the news about Dr. Richardson getting married and how her mother had advised her to face her lingering feelings for the plastic surgeon before he was officially off the market.

At Dr. Richardson’s office, he discussed house hunting with Johnson. The plastic surgeon recommended Fairmont Crest as an option, but Nurse Johnson was concerned about moving into his ex-wife’s gated community as she didn’t want to rub salt in the wound. Dr. Richardson told his fiancé he would only consider moving there if Nicole Dupree was comfortable with it.  

Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) joined her father at the country club to catch up. First, they discussed Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings) and Smith’s legal issues.

Vernon Dupree then talked about how Dr. Dupree may need extra support after hearing about Dr. Richardson’s engagement. The supermodel assured her father that her sister just needed time to process the shock of the news.  

The retired senator asked his youngest daughter how her own marriage was going, and she said she realized how hurt Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) was because she put herself in danger to protect her ex-husband. Now that Lawson had been exposed, Dani Dupree promised she would only focus on her husband from now on.

Nicole Dupree told her best friend she gave Dr. Rollins a key to her home and that she was genuinely happy Dr. Richardson moved on with someone like Johnson. The psychiatrist then received a call from her ex-husband, who asked for her blessing to look at homes in Fairmont Crest. Dr. Dupree gave her approval and even referred the plastic surgeon to McBride.

Lawson told Randy Parker (Maurice P. Kerry) she decided against moving to the property in St. Barts and instead planned a move to Los Angeles for her next scam. The former paralegal asked her cousin to help her obtain a new identity.

At the country club, Andre Richardson and Kat Richardson discussed the ChelseaKat co-founder’s role in wedding planning. The photographer said he hoped this task would finally help his cousins put their differences aside. Kat Richardson promised to not let her issues with Eva Thomas get in the way of planning the perfect wedding for Dr. Richardson and Johnson.

Meanwhile, at Uptown, Eva Thomas told her boyfriend that she and Kat Richardson had disagreed about which DJ to hire for their father’s nuptials. The free clinic manager admitted they kept things cordial and had managed to stick to their truce so far.

Izaiah Hawthorne reminded Eva Thomas that it had been a year since the day they met. The Banneker advisor said the last thing he expected when he came to town was to fall in love. They both realized they were more than casual hookups, so they started an exclusive relationship.

At their Brownstone, Smith expressed concern about his husband’s declining poll numbers, which he attributed to the arrest. Congressman Richardson tried to ease Smith’s concern and said he refused to distance himself from his husband for public perception.

Naomi Hamilton-Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) and Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) tried to relax at home by watching a movie together. However, Detective Hawthorne brought up their current professional conflict.

Hamilton-Hawthorne reminded her husband that they set a “no work at home” boundary to avoid arguing about their opposing duties during personal time, but Jacob Hawthorne insisted on talking about Smith’s case, which turned into a heated discussion about their marital issues.

Detective Hawthorne said that while he didn’t believe Smith was intentionally capable of murder, he knew his partner was willing to cross ethical lines to get his story. The former undercover cop felt that Smith could have brought Lia Whitmore (Cecelia Specht) pills in exchange for information.

Still at the country club, Kat Richardson told her cousin she couldn’t help but wonder whether she’d be better off spending her time trying to prove Smith was framed. The ChelseaKat manager said she had a safe source of information in Jacob Hawthorne’s brother, Izaiah Hawthorne.

Pamela Curtis (Cady McClain) helped Dani Dupree strategize for her upcoming interview with Tia Allen (Tabitha Brown), which would give an in-depth profile of her life and legacy. As they chose an outfit for the supermodel, Curtis asked about Andre Richardson’s involvement in the corresponding photoshoot. At first, Dani Dupree assumed her husband wouldn’t want to be part of it, but when she asked Andre Richardson when he returned home, he happily agreed.

Later, a constituent approached Congressman Richardson with concerns about his judgment. She believed he couldn’t do his job effectively because he didn’t know what his husband was capable of, citing the criminal charges. Congressman Richardson asserted that the investigation would prove his husband was innocent.

After Detective Hawthorne said how frustrating it was always being the one to compromise in their marriage, he added that he accepted Hamilton-Hawthorne’s desire not to have kids and was empathetic when she kept her BRCA gene diagnosis from him.

Hamilton-Hawthorne pointed out that her husband had been carrying resentment she didn’t even know about and didn’t know how to fix. Detective Hawthorne quickly shifted his attitude, saying he only needed to get his frustrations out. The couple resumed watching their movie, both with distressed looks on their faces that showed neither liked how the conversation ended.

The day of Dani Dupree’s “Welcome to Your Life” television special with Allen, highlighting her career as a world-renowned, history-making supermodel, had arrived. Unbeknownst to the modeling agent, Curtis had planned for her family to join the interview to celebrate her.

At Bill Hamilton’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) law office, his daughters prepared to head to the country club for the interview. They were shocked to learn Curtis had invited their father to join the event as well. Bill Hamilton promised Hamilton-Hawthorne and Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla) he would support Dani Dupree and not ruin her moment.

On set, Dani Dupree was surprised to see her parents as the first guests. Vernon and Anita Dupree reminisced about raising their youngest daughter, what sparked her interest in modeling and how they supported her dream despite initial resistance.

An unknown woman lurked around the supermodel’s family and friends, eavesdropping on their conversation. As she walked out to the lobby, she encountered Bill Hamilton, who asked, “What are you doing here, Kalista?”

Turns out the woman was Kalista Kilroy (Kandi Burruss), Dani Dupree’s very first modeling agent. Kilroy explained that Allen had reached out to her to join the interview. Curtis was unpleasantly surprised to learn Kilroy was a guest.

Bill Hamilton joined his daughters on set as they spoke about the inspiration their mother provided them in their careers. Allen asked why Dani Dupree opened fire at her ex-husband’s wedding, and she admitted she was in a dark place during that time, but she and Bill Hamilton had moved past their animosity and were now in a better place.

The criminal defense attorney acknowledged the sacrifices his ex-wife made in giving up her career to raise their children and help build his law firm. Dani Dupree said she doesn’t regret her decision because she built a stable foundation for their family.

Later, Andre Richardson gushed over his wife. During his segment, the photographer revealed that he had talked to Tatum Stewart (Milly Figuereo) about Dani Dupree considering going back into modeling.

Stewart immediately wanted the youngest Dupree daughter to be the face of her line. Andre Richardson explained that he wanted his wife to connect with Stewart organically. Dani Dupree and Allen credited the photographer with being a loving, supportive partner.

Chaos ensued when Kilroy joined the interview. Dani Dupree was less than enthused to see her former agent and hear her answers to Allen’s questions. Kilroy claimed she taught the supermodel everything she knows, then revealed she’d previously had an intimate encounter with Bill Hamilton while he was still married to Dani Dupree.

Bill Hamilton interrupted the segment and tried to explain, but Dani Dupree walked off the set, on the verge of tears. The supermodel initially wanted to leave, but her husband and sister encouraged her to finish the interview and not let anyone ruin her moment.

Dr. Dupree was the final guest and spoke about her sister’s ability to bring joy and inspiration to everyone around her consistently. As the interview ended, everyone surrounded Dani Dupree and congratulated her, while Bill Hamilton watched from across the lobby.

While having breakfast at Orphey Gene’s, Parker gave Lawson her new identity, “Carey Jenner,” a nanny. Initially disapproving of the backstory, Parker told his cousin to look at the bigger picture. In Los Angeles, entertainment moguls would hire a nanny, giving her access to the home and the man of the house.

At Dr. Richardson’s office, Andre Richardson filled his uncle in on the drama during Dani Dupree’s interview. The photographer said Bill Hamilton cheated on Dani Dupree for sport, and it’s still negatively affecting her. Dr. Richardson complimented his nephew on being a better husband to the supermodel than Bill Hamilton ever was.

Later on, while discussing plans for Dr. Richardson’s bachelor party, the plastic surgeon talked about the party his late brother, Stan, threw for him for his first wedding. Andre and Ted Richardson both expressed how much they missed him.

Hamilton-Hawthorne told her father about her marital troubles due to being on opposite sides of Smith’s case. Bill Hamilton advised his eldest daughter not to take Jacob Hawthorne for granted even during the tough times.

After a brief introduction with Leslie Thomas at the country club, Heather Armstrong (Ashley Jones) joined Dani Dupree, who opened up about her complicated history with Bill Hamilton, the drama with Lawson and how supportive Andre Richardson had been.

Armstrong pressed for more details about the supermodel’s marriage, but Dani Dupree simply kept bragging about how committed her husband was to her. The Uptown owner fantasized about violently stabbing her “friend” out of jealousy. Snapping her out of the fantasy, Dani Dupree thanked Armstrong for being a great friend.

After arriving at Orphey Gene’s, Leslie Thomas joined Lawson’s table and commented on her weight, which the former paralegal took offense to. Moments later, Lawson ran to the bathroom when she felt the urge to vomit.

Meanwhile, Hamilton-Hawthorne told Bill Hamilton she was proud of him for finally showing remorse for how he treated her mother during their marriage. The civil attorney reminded her father that despite his unfavorable history with Dani Dupree, he didn’t deserve what Lawson did to him.

Back in her hotel room, Lawson took a home pregnancy test and was upset to discover she was indeed pregnant. Viewers can watch “Beyond the Gates” on CBS at 2 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
