CBS’s “Beyond the Gates,” the groundbreaking soap opera with the first predominantly Black cast in decades, has officially been renewed for two more seasons.
Seasons 3 and 4 of the series will be airing through the 2027-2028 television season, and CBS announced the renewal publicly on Wednesday.
The daytime drama recently celebrated its anniversary in February, marking its first year of juicy storytelling since the 2025 premiere, and is currently in its second season.
It also earned nominations at the 57th NAACP Image Awards, the 2026 Writers Guild Awards, and an ESSENCE Essie’s Choice Award win in 2026. “Beyond the Gates” was created by showrunner Michele Val Jean and the President of the CBS/NAACP Venture, Sheila Ducksworth, both of whom also serve as executive producers.
As first announced and with production starting in 2024 in Atlanta, the hit series became the first hour-long soap opera ever to be Black-led and is set around Washington, D.C.
BTG centers on the prestigious Dupree family, who wield generational influence in Maryland, specifically in the fictional gated community of Fairmont Crest. Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis portray the Dupree matriarch and patriarch, Anita Dupree and Vernon Dupree.
The show also features fellow daytime drama heavy hitters, playing the Dupree sisters, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree) and Daphnée Duplaix (Nicole Dupree), along with stars Timon Kyle Durrett, Colby Natasha Nixon, Arielle Prepetit, Brandon Claybon, RhonniRose Mantilla, Keith Robinson, Sean Freeman, Ambyr Michelle, Trisha Mann-Grant, Jibre Hordges, Jaden Lucas Miller, Najah Jackson, Marquita Goings, Alex Cheeks, Angela Fairley and more.
There are sure to be many more stories told with a third and fourth season of “Beyond the Gates” successfully secured.
