A stunned Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson) was speechless after Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) confessed that he was falling more in love with her every day. Johnson questioned whether he truly meant it or was simply telling her what she wanted to hear. Overwhelmed, she left in a panic, saying she needed time to think.

Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) rejected Bill Hamilton’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) insistence that they still had feelings for each other. The criminal defense attorney invaded his ex’s personal space and questioned why her heart was racing if he was wrong.

The supermodel reminded Bill Hamilton that she was happily married, but he asserted that she still wanted him and even suggested continuing their affair, leaving Dani Dupree appalled.

Kat Richardson (Colby Natasha Nixon) visited Dr. Nicole Dupree (Daphnée Duplaix), who urged her daughter to take it easy while recovering. Discussing Tomas Navarro (Alex Alegria), Kat Richardson mentioned that he would be in Puerto Rico while she was moving into her new condo.

The ChelseaKat business manager soon realized that her mother did not want her marrying Navarro. Dr. Dupree admitted to her regret about giving her daughter a “love at first sight” ideal and encouraged her to be more open. The conversation shifted to Naomi Hamilton-Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit), with Kat Richardson revealing that her cousin carried the BRCA gene.

Dr. Richardson met Kat Richardson at Orphey Gene’s, where she sought fatherly advice. He encouraged his daughter to see Navarro’s perspective but warned that accepting a proposal that she did not want would only make things worse.

Later, Kat Richardson met her boyfriend at Uptown before his trip. Navarro revealed that he would return early from Puerto Rico because he was under scrutiny at work because of Hamilton-Hawthorne.

The ChelseaKat business manager assured him that her cousin was dealing with something much bigger and wasn’t worried about taking his job. Bill Hamilton interrupted the couple’s conversation, prompting Kat Richardson to change the subject.

Once his boss left, Navarro asked Kat Richardson to keep an eye and ear on Hamilton-Hawthorne, but she reminded him that while she would do it to prove he had nothing to worry about, Hamilton-Hawthorne was still family.

Back at Garland Memorial Hospital, Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob) noticed Johnson had returned despite not being scheduled for a double shift. Nurse Johnson admitted that she froze after Dr. Richardson’s love confession.

Following Morgan’s advice, Johnson grabbed something to eat to clear her head. After more encouragement, the head nurse decided to leave and tell Dr. Richardson that she was also falling in love with him.

Bill Hamilton and Dani Dupree’s confrontation ended when Dr. Dupree arrived. The supermodel feared that her sister knew about what happened in the elevator, but the world-renowned psychiatrist was referring to Hamilton-Hawthorne carrying the BRCA gene.

Nicole Dupree urged her sister that the entire family would need to stay strong for Hamilton-Hawthorne, who was considering a double mastectomy. Dani Dupree, unaware of that detail, became increasingly upset.

Dr. Dupree visited Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) at their home. The Dupree patriarch admitted that seeing his beautiful wife light up again was giving him life.

When Vernon Dupree mentioned that every Dupree was in a good place, his eldest daughter suddenly got up to leave. The married duo immediately sensed something was wrong and asked Dr. Dupree to confess. The psychiatrist insisted that it wasn’t her place to share and said they would have to talk with Dani Dupree.

The retired senator called Dani Dupree and asked her to stop by the house. Worried, the supermodel hurried over, where her parents asked if there was something she needed to tell them. The younger Dupree daughter immediately launched into an explanation about Bill Hamilton.

Her parents were confused and reminded her that no one had even mentioned her ex-husband. Dani Dupree then revealed that Hamilton-Hawthorne had inherited the BRCA gene, news that left the married couple heartbroken and Anita Dupree in tears. After Vernon Dupree stepped outside, Dani Dupree shared that her daughter was considering a double mastectomy.

Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) was shocked when his father, Chief Elon Hawthorne (Malachi Malik), said he wanted to meet with Izaiah Hawthorne (Lami Friebe) for lunch. Meanwhile, Izaiah Hawthorne was at Eva Thomas’ (Ambyr Michelle) apartment contemplating whether he should actually go through with meeting his father.

Although he told Eva Thomas he had no desire to see Chief Hawthorne, Izaiah Hawthorne worried something might be wrong with a member of their family. Hoping for some insight, the Banneker advisor called Jacob Hawthorne. However, the call went unanswered because the former undercover cop was still with Chief Hawthorne and urging him not to go into the conversation defensively.

Marcel Malone (Darryl W. Handy) arrived at the police station after shamelessly flirting with Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) over the phone. Malone informed Jacob Hawthorne that he had a new undercover assignment for him, but the young detective declined because he needed to stay close to home.

Later, Eva Thomas arrived at the hospital for her physical therapy session. She spoke with Dr. Kial Rollins (Greg Vaughan) and tried to get an update on Kat Richardson’s condition.

Although Dr. Rollins couldn’t reveal much, Eva Thomas was able to read between the lines. The Phoenix Street Free Clinic manager also expressed her frustration about wanting to return to work, prompting Dr. Rollins to help her better understand Dr. Richardson’s perspective.

Izaiah Hawthorne met up with his father at Orphey Gene’s. Chief Hawthorne expressed his desire to turn over a new leaf, while his youngest son remained hesitant.

After the conversation continued, Izaiah Hawthorne told his father that they could move forward as long as they maintained honest communication. After returning to the station, Chief Hawthorne talked with Jacob Hawthorne and shared that the meeting had gone well and progress was made.

Johnson confided in Dr. Rollins about her and Dr. Richardson’s recent declarations about falling in love. After Nicole Dupree arrived at the hospital and shared kisses with Dr. Rollins in her office, he blindsided the psychiatrist by revealing the news about Johnson and Dr. Richardson. It was clear that Dr. Dupree was rattled.

At the Dupree mansion, Dani Dupree asked her mother to persuade Hamilton-Hawthorne into changing her mind about possibly getting a double mastectomy. Anita Dupree declined her youngest daughter’s request, insisting that she would listen to her granddaughter and try to understand her perspective instead.

Hamilton-Hawthorne arrived at the law firm to see Bill Hamilton. The criminal defense attorney asked his daughter to catch him up on her confrontation with Navarro. Hamilton-Hawthorne explained that it felt like Navarro believed she was trying to take his position, even though that was not the case.

Hamilton-Hawthorne also finally confessed to her father that she had tested positive for the BRCA gene. Bill Hamilton praised his daughter’s strength before the two shared an embrace. While discussing health, Hamilton-Hawthorne reminded her father that he also needed to take better care of himself.

Meanwhile, Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings) met Randy Parker (Maurice P. Kerry) at Uptown, and she gloated about redirecting Bradley “Smitty” Smith’s (Mike Manning) attention toward Lia Whitmore (Cecelia Specht) so he wouldn’t connect Parker to Lynette Wise’s (Dominique Madison) disappearance. Lawson also admitted that she was ready for Bill Hamilton to die so she could live out her happy life with a new man in St. Barts.

At Orphey Gene’s, June Hughes (Jasmine Burke) returned to a customer’s table and informed him that his card had declined and explained that they would have to work out a solution because the bill would otherwise come out of her paycheck. Deanna McBride (Angela Fairley) stepped in and paid for the stranger’s meal, not knowing that he was actually Dr. Rollins’ son, Noah Rollins (Nick Hagelin).

Although the musician wanted to Venmo her the money, his phone was dead. Deanna McBride took the California native’s phone number and told him that she would send him a payment request later.

Hamilton-Hawthorne later received a call from Anita Dupree and stopped by to visit. The two discussed the decisions the lawyer was facing, and she confessed that she didn’t feel as strong as her grandmother. Anita Dupree reassured Hamilton-Hawthorne that she was stronger than she realized.

Lawson returned to the law firm with juice for her husband. Bill Hamilton mentioned that his eldest daughter didn’t believe in the paralegal’s health methods, but he drank the juice anyway. After Lawson left, Bill Hamilton suddenly collapsed.

When Noah Rollins arrived at Garland Memorial Hospital, Dr. Dupree immediately recognized him and showed him to his father before excusing herself from what was clearly going to be a private conversation.

Bill Hamilton stumbled, literally, into the country club, where he spotted an upset Dani Dupree. The younger Dupree daughter apologized for not telling her ex about Hamilton-Hawthorne inheriting the BRCA gene.

Bill Hamilton understood that it was something that his daughter had to share herself. Dani Dupree also expressed her concerns about their eldest undergoing such an invasive surgery. Vernon Dupree soon arrived at the country club while the two were still talking.

At the coffee shop, Lawson met with her cousin again to vent about Dani Dupree confronting her the night before. Parker warned the paralegal that she needed to tighten up when it came to their Bill Hamilton scam.

When Lawson stepped away to take a call, Mona Wilson (Karan Kendrick) spotted Parker and struck up a conversation. Parker remarked that Wilson was probably wondering why he had missed several church services, but she insisted that she wasn’t checking on him like that.

Afterward, Lawson returned and asked her cousin why he was wasting his time on “that thirsty hoe.” Parker quickly shut her down and warned his cousin never to speak about “Ms. Wilson” that way again.

Smith visited Jacob Hawthorne at the police station to discuss interviewing Whitmore in hopes of further investigating her connection to Wise. Although Jacob Hawthorne wasn’t convinced that the disgraced hospital chief of staff would be helpful, he agreed to contact the warden so Smith could interview her.

After being at the station, Smith ran into Hamilton-Hawthorne at Orphey Gene’s and asked for her thoughts on his latest story involving Whitmore, Lawson and Wise. The lawyer shared the suspicious information she knew about Lawson, and the two compared notes. They figured out that Lawson was telling each of them a different story.

After Dani Dupree left the country club to see her mother, Vernon Dupree asked Bill Hamilton if he could join him. Concerned about his former son-in-law’s health after two hospitalizations this year, Vernon Dupree pointed out that Bill Hamilton had been under tremendous stress, especially after the tornado.

The supermodel finally arrived back home to Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) after discussing Hamilton-Hawthorne with her mother. The photographer revealed that he had done some good PR on her behalf while talking to her daughter.

Dani Dupree then noticed a surprise gift, which Andre Richardson said he hadn’t purchased. Inside was a bottle of champagne with a note congratulating them on their wedding. However, the message did not have a name on it.

Although Dani Dupree appreciated the thoughtful gesture, Andre Richardson was visibly uneasy. He made a phone call, only to discover that the number had been disconnected before staring suspiciously at the note.

Before he left the country club, Vernon Dupree reminded his former son-in-law that he would always be there if he needed him. As Bill Hamilton once again stumbled toward the exit, Jacob Hawthorne noticed and asked his father-in-law if he was okay.

Bill Hamilton reassured the former undercover cop that everything was fine and then snapped, telling Jacob Hawthorne that he should focus on his wife now that she finally felt comfortable confiding in him again.

Andre Richardson’s mood remained sour as the conversation about the champagne continued. He acted strangely until Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) arrived, giving him the perfect excuse to leave. Vanessa McBride updated Dani Dupree on the progress she and Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) were making with Deanna McBride.

Eva Thomas arrived at Orphey Gene’s to see Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla). Chelsea Hamilton asked the free clinic manager to appear on her platform to share her story and help raise awareness for people who are impacted by donor registry lists. Eva Thomas agreed, and the two recorded the livestream.

Samantha Richardson-Smith (Najah Jackson) shared her influencer research with her aunt, Kat Richardson, at the country club. Kat Richardson mentioned Chelsea Hamilton’s livestream and admitted that she didn’t want to be a part of it because she wanted to forget the transplant and move on.

Richardson-Smith hoped the situation would ultimately bring her two aunts closer together and encouraged Kat Richardson to keep an open mind. The two discussed a marketing plan for a new Dupree cosmetic line before Richardson-Smith was distracted by the livestream. Together, they watched Eva Thomas recount her experience of being trapped in the tornado with “Renee,” an alias for the ChelseaKat manager.

While Richardson-Smith believed Eva Thomas was being sincere, Kat Richardson felt that her half-sister was playing the victim by alluding to their complicated dynamic and insinuating that she wished Kat Richardson would love her. And in the ChelseaKat manager’s mind, her cousin and best friend was falling for it.

Dani Dupree and Vanessa McBride watched Chelsea Hamilton’s livestream together. The Fairmont Crest realtor noticed that Andre Richardson was in the background at Orphey Gene’s despite him telling Dani Dupree that he was headed to the country club.

The supermodel couldn’t understand why her husband would lie to her, but Vanessa McBride reminded her that the photographer wasn’t Bill Hamilton. She urged her friend to forgive herself for her past mistakes.

Back at the police station, Smith told Jacob Hawthorne that Whitmore hadn’t provided any useful information, but after speaking with Hamilton-Hawthorne, he had gained better insight. Jacob Hawthorne agreed it could be something worth pursuing but said it would have to wait because he was still focused on identifying the Impaler.

Chief Hawthorne made it known that he disapproved of the amount of time his firstborn had been spending with Smith. He instructed Jacob Hawthorne to make sure Smith went through the proper channels for information.

Bill Hamilton returned home to find Lawson dressed in workout clothes. The paralegal promised to reward her husband handsomely if he stuck to her wellness program.

Soon after, Bill Hamilton remembered his daughter’s livestream. While watching the replay, he immediately noticed how friendly Chelsea Hamilton and Eva Thomas appeared and remarked that Kat Richardson wasn’t going to like it. As he continued watching, Bill Hamilton began experiencing tremors again while Lawson looked on with “concern.”

Chelsea Hamilton and Eva Thomas wrapped up, and the free clinic manager asked if they could be on good terms. Although Chelsea Hamilton was still hurt by what had happened to Nicole Dupree, she admitted that she was beginning to see Eva Thomas as someone who was genuinely trying.

When the handbag designer later arrived at the country club, Kat Richardson admitted that she was peeved and felt that Eva Thomas had managed to win over everyone in her life, now including her best friend.

Andre Richardson returned home, where Dani Dupree immediately revealed that she knew he was at Orphey Gene’s and not the country club. The photographer admitted that he had stopped to pick up some red velvet cake for the two of them.

Dani Dupree then showered her husband with kisses. Viewers can watch “Beyond the Gates” on CBS at 2 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
