Dr. Madison Montgomery (Kenjah McNeil) and Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla) met Kat Richardson (Colby Natasha Nixon) and Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) at the country club to begin wedding planning.

Ideas ranged from Chelsea Hamilton’s childhood dream wedding to Dani Dupree’s venue inspiration from a past photoshoot. They also discussed dates and considered booking a musical act whose name was tied to broken bones, leaving Kat Richardson perplexed and humored at the same time.

Meanwhile, Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) was also at the country club, meeting with wedding planner Bijou (Shaquita Smith) to secretly plan a wedding for Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) and Izaiah Hawthorne (Lami Friebe), who had no idea it was even happening. After overhearing Dr. Montgomery and Chelsea Hamilton’s plans, Leslie Thomas pushed to secure the same dates, ideas and details to outdo them.

Naomi Hamilton-Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) woke up from a nightmare that Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) had been killed in the line of duty and was relieved to find him beside her. Her husband comforted her, expressing guilt over what his work was putting her through.

She reassured him that she had been sticking to her cover story and doing the work to keep it believable. The two shared a quiet moment before reaffirming their love for each other and parting ways.

Dr. Nicole Dupree (Daphnée Duplaix) was surprised by a visit from Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald (Robert Christopher Riley), who had just returned from an international trip with his family. He asked her out, and she suggested a double date with Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) and Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli), which he agreed to.

Their moment was interrupted by Dr. Kial Rollins (Greg Vaughan), who stopped by under the guise of retrieving his watch and made it clear to Dr. Fitzgerald how present he had been in Nicole Dupree’s life, leaving her uncomfortable.

Eva Thomas and Izaiah Hawthorne spent the morning at her apartment, unable to keep their hands off each other. When Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith Robinson) called, Izaiah Hawthorne answered and covered for Eva Thomas, saying she was not feeling well.

Ted Richardson told him to make sure she got rest. Their moment was cut short when Leslie Thomas barged in. When Izaiah Hawthorne called her out for suffocating her daughter, they reached an understanding for the meddling mother to stay out of their relationship.

At the hospital, Dr. Montgomery and Eva Thomas reconnected over the clinic’s progress. Hamilton-Hawthorne arrived to see her friend, Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob), sharing that she had been able to reconnect with her husband.

Jacob Hawthorne returned to his undercover assignment under his fake name “Rashad” and he asked for details about the upcoming plasma drop.

Dani Dupree returned home furious after learning that Leslie Thomas had stolen her daughter and Montgomery’s wedding plans. She vented to her husband, Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman), who offered to have his uncle step in, but Dani Dupree pulled him into bed instead.

Even in the moment, the renowned photographer insisted that he would still speak with his uncle. He also shared his new March Madness assignment and considered passing on it to stay by his wife’s side, but Dani Dupree encouraged him to go. The two agreed to move forward with a double date with Dr. Richardson and Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson).

Dr. Richardson’s day was filled with back-to-back visits as Eva Thomas, Leslie Thomas and Andre Richardson each stopped by his office. Eva Thomas arrived first, angered that her mother was going overboard as usual.

Leslie Thomas followed with her own agenda, pushing Ted Richardson to fire Eva Thomas so she could focus fully on the free clinic, but he shut her down and called out her ulterior motives regarding Eva Thomas and Izaiah Hawthorne.

Later, Andre Richardson arrived with his own concerns about Leslie Thomas’ actions, and Dr. Richardson reassured him that Dr. Montgomery and Chelsea Hamilton’s wedding date would be protected.

At Orphey Gene’s, Leslie Thomas clashed with Derek Baldwin (Ben Gavin), upset that he was taking a lunch break. The former firefighter reminded her that he did not answer to her and sent Eva Thomas proof of the encounter, which prompted Eva Thomas to later confront her mother.

Kat Richardson crossed paths with Izaiah Hawthorne and called him out over the engagement rumors and the theft of her cousin’s wedding ideas. Izaiah Hawthorne insisted he had already spoken with Leslie Thomas and believed things were under control, but Kat Richardson warned him that his girlfriend’s mother was still going too far and that it could impact his relationship.

Izaiah Hawthorne later told Eva Thomas that her half-sister had warned him that Leslie Thomas had been spreading rumors about an engagement. Rather than fight it, he suggested they lean into it and keep the wedding date as a distraction.

Kat Richardson stopped by to see Dani Dupree with the news that there was no engagement between Eva Thomas and Izaiah Hawthorne. The two also reflected on Anita Dupree’s (Tamara Tunie) cancer before deciding to have lunch with her at the Dupree family mansion.

Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) visited the Dupree mansion while Anita Dupree was having a difficult health day. He shared that he had found an oversight that could halt the construction on Leslie Thomas’ home, news Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) welcomed.

Despite not feeling well, Anita Dupree asked him to stay. The two shared a heartfelt conversation, with the criminal defense attorney expressing his faith in her. Kat Richardson arrived home and shared an emotional embrace with her uncle. Later, Anita Dupree reached out to Dr. Monica McCormick (Iona Morris) for a consultation.

Leslie Thomas and Eva Thomas met with the house contractor and inspector, who informed them that construction on Leslie Thomas’ “Shouse” had been halted. Leslie Thomas pushed back and the conversation escalated.

Eva Thomas, fed up, called out her mother’s dramatics as Kat Richardson watched on, extremely amused. The ChelseaKat manager also sat with Dr. Rollins, questioning him about his intentions with her mother. He opened up, sharing his genuine interest in the psychiatrist.

At Dr. Dupree’s office, Vanessa McBride arrived visibly upset, turning to her best friend for support as she struggled with issues involving her daughter, Deanna McBride (Angela Fairley).

Later, Dr. Rollins stopped by to make amends. He confided in Dr. Dupree about his feelings for her and even left her with a key to his place, expecting nothing in return.

Izaiah Hawthorne met with Armstrong, noting that their shared connection to the Thomas family kept them in the same orbit. Izaiah Hawthorne asked for Armstrong’s blessing to tell Eva Thomas the truth about his past.

Armstrong agreed but warned him of what that truth could bring. Izaiah Hawthorne later confided in his girlfriend, sharing that Armstrong had always seen the good in him as he revealed his history.

Vernon Dupree confronted Leslie Thomas at Orphey Gene’s, who quickly realized that he was responsible for the halt in her dream home’s construction. He met her anger with a challenge, making it clear that their war was far from over and telling her, “Game on.”

Anita Dupree is set to undergo surgery next week and tells her doctors that she wants a Do Not Resuscitate order. It is sure to be an emotionally gripping week. “Beyond the Gates” airs on CBS at 2 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
