Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) returned to her brother, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), and cousin, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). Both were pleased to see her and began to question her about her disappearance.
Hamilton recapped Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) telling him that Winters and her children were kidnapped by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and asked his sister pointedly if this was true.
While he found it difficult to believe Victor Newman would hurt her like that, he knew that anything could happen when the Newman patriarch’s back was against the wall.
Winters dodged these questions, saying the situation was complicated and then changed the subject to the kidnapping of Dominic, Hamilton’s son.
The music producer asked his sister why she wouldn’t answer his and Hastings’ calls if she knew that her family was going through so much. Hamilton recounted his son’s kidnapping, but Hastings was desperate to know what had happened with Winters.
After being pressed for answers, Winters confessed the truth: The kidnapping was staged to force Ashby’s hand, and she and her kids were not in any real danger.
After this admission, Hastings realized that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) had to have known the truth the whole time. Winters apologized, but her brother was flooded with anger and showed no interest. He stated, “You intentionally put your family through a nightmare over something that wasn’t real. Who does something like that?”
The fury of Hamilton and Hastings was evident, but Winters defended herself, saying that she believed she was doing the right thing. She also revealed that the twins went along with the plan.
Hamilton and Hastings questioned why she even cared that Ashby had stolen from Victor Newman, and Winters replied that she was angry with Ashby for his out-of-control behavior. Deep down, she wanted to prove a point to her ex-husband, but this explanation did not matter to Hamilton.
In this heated exchange, Hamilton said that his sister was really no better than Ashby. Winters was speechless but apologized again, saying she couldn’t risk Ashby finding out the truth.
The record executive believed she simply did not trust her family to keep the secret, but she refuted this claim. Hastings stepped between the two and said that, despite his anger, he believed Winters was right: Ashby would have sensed they were lying if she had alerted them.
Later, Winters confessed that she was getting something in return for agreeing to Victor Newman’s plan. The Newman patriarch offered her a chance to run the company she once ran with ease, Chancellor Industries.
The former Chancellor CEO also admitted that there had been a setback, but she was willing to give Victor Newman the benefit of the doubt. Both men were incredulous, and Hamilton sarcastically asked if she really thought Victor Newman was trustworthy, reminding her of all the times that he had made a promise and broken it.
Hastings also added that his cousin’s plan was flawed because Ashby no longer controlled any companies, but Winters stated that, because Victor Newman had regained Chancellor, the plan had partially worked.
Pondering Ashby’s reaction, Hastings informed Winters that her ex was beside himself. Winters told her brother and cousin that she had seen Ashby earlier, and he told her that he wanted nothing to do with her. They all declared it was good news, and Hamilton went further, urging his sister to cut her losses with Victor Newman before it was too late.

Winters arrived at the Genoa City Athletic Club for a drink and was immediately confronted by Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), who antagonized her, proclaiming that she didn’t know how her family would ever forgive her. Winters was silent, refusing to be provoked, but Summers wasn’t ready to quit.
The two sparred, Summers lambasting Winters, and soon Winters took the bait. She called Summers hypocritical for lecturing her about Ashby’s feelings when she double-crossed him.
Summers believed her reasons were valid and Winters’ were not. Winters declared that she did not need to explain herself to the newly named Newman Enterprises CEO and that her reasons didn’t begin in the gutter, unlike Summers’ reasons.
Winters found Summers’ jealousy accusation humorous and declared that Summers’ expansive list of Genoa City ex-lovers was nothing to be envious of. She doubled down, stating that Summers used her body to get what she wanted, and she had to hand it to her because no one else would stoop that low.
Eventually, Summers began to fish for information from Winters, asking bluntly what she had gotten in return for her assistance to Victor Newman. Winters didn’t offer any information, so Summers countered, saying that Winters should have been pleased that she had served Victor Newman and Ashby what they deserved.
Summers gloated about her success, declaring that she was smarter than everyone else, but Winters delivered a dire warning, saying, “I think we all know that every time Victor is down, he always gets back up. And people who think they won usually end up where they started or worse.”
Not long after, Victoria Newman arrived at the GCAC and lamented about Summers’ children no longer speaking to their mother. Victoria Newman and Winters greeted one another, and it confirmed Summers’ suspicion that Winters was never in danger.
Winters implored Summers to make things right, asking her not to take the same route that Ashby did – losing it all to gain things that didn’t matter.
Next week, Vivica A. Fox and Shemar Moore will be returning to Genoa City as Dr. Stephanie Simmons and Malcolm Winters. “The Young and the Restless” airs on CBS at 12:30 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
